Overview of the Role

Brane Trust Company is seeking a General Manager or CEO to oversee the company’s commencement of operations and drive the business forward. 

Reporting to the board of directors of Brane Trust with a dotted line to the management of Brane Inc., the GM/CEO will play a key leadership role in the establishment success of Canada’s first independent, regulated custodian of digital assets. The GM/CEO will manage all aspects of Brane Trust Company, including but not limited to: 


  • Managing physical premises, including security oversight; 
  • Hire talent and manage team’s roles and responsibilities, creating an industry-leading work environment; 
  • Create and manage client lifecycle processes from client onboarding to client support; 
  • Ensure regulatory reporting is filed accurately and on time (e.g., FINTRAC, CRA, ICAAP); 
  • Engage with 3rd party service providers, including auditors, bankers, and legal counsel; 
  • Oversee compliance and risk management; 
  • Prepare and present monthly, quarterly, and annual reports  to the board of directors of Brane Trust and the leadership of Brane Inc. 

Must Haves

  • Proven experience setting up new offices and scaling up businesses; 
  • Minimum 4 years in management experience with a financial institution (e.g., trust company, bank, or asset manager), with traditional or digital custodian experience preferred; 
  • Track record of managing financial services regulatory and compliance requirements; 
  • Motivated by building a team with diverse skill sets; 
  • Driven to manage multiple high-priority projects to successful completion; 
  • Demonstrated success in exceeding organizational targets 
  • Proficient in interpreting contract documents (language and terms); 
  • Be comfortable working with emerging technologies, including cryptocurrency and blockchain. 

Nice to Haves

  • Fintech industry experience; 
  • Blockchain/crypto knowledge/industry experience.
